La verdadera historia de Ganesha

Una corta noche de verano Parvati sintió el deseo de unirse con un elefante. Había visto una familia de éstos en un claro de bosque, y quedó hechizada por la fuerza y el calor de la enorme criatura. Shiva, con sólo mirarla, comprendió y sintió celos. Pero siendo un dios, no reaccionó como los humanos. Hizo algo que éstos no pueden hacer: se convirtió en elefante. El más fuerte, el más imponente, el más sabio. Parvati, enfrentada de pronto a las consecuencias de su deseo, estaba emocionada, radiante y temblorosa. Pero también ella tenía facultades divinas, y pudo hacerse capaz de agasajar a su amante. Esa noche, Parvati quedó exhausta y en preñez.

Pasaron las lunas y nació Ganesha, con cabeza de elefante y cuerpo de dios humano.

Era hermosísimo.

Cuando los hombres le vieron, no podían entender ni imaginar que fuera fruto de un amor tal,  y forjaron el falso mito de los celos de Shiva, la decapitación de su hijo y el reemplazo de su cabeza por la de un malhadado elefante que pasaba por ahí.

A short summer night, Parvati felt the desire to mate with an elephant. She had seen a family of those in a clearing in the woods, and she was seduced by the strength and the warmness of the enormous creature. Shiva, just by looking at her, understood and was filled with jealousy.  But, being a God, he did not react as a man would do. He did something that humans cannot do: he turned into an elephant. The stateliest, the strongest, the wisest. Parvati, confronted at once with the consequences of her desire, was stirred, beaming, trembling. But she also had divine faculties, so she made herself able to feast with her lover. That night, Parvati ended up exhausted and pregnant.

The moons passed and Ganesha was born, with the head of an elephant and the body of a human god. He was most beautiful.

When the men saw him, they could neither understand nor imagine that he was the fruit of such a love, and invented the false myth of Shiva´s jealousy, the beheading of his son and the replacement of his head by one of an unlucky elephant that happened to pass by.

Die Wahre Geschichte von Ganesha

In einer kurzen Sommernacht fühlte Parvati den Wunschen, sich mit einem Elefanten zu vereinigen. Sie hatte auf einer Waldlichtung eine Elefantenfamilie gesehen und war von der Kraft und der Heissblütigkeit der rieseigen Kreatur verzaubert. Shiva verstand aus den ersten Blick und wurde eifersüchtig. Aber er war ein Gott und reagierte deshalb nicht wie ein Mensch. Er tat, was für Menschen unmöglich ist: er verwandelte sich in einem Elefanten. Er war der Stärksste, der Eindrucksvollste, der Gelehrteste. Parvati, auf einmal konfrontiert mit den Konsequenzen ihres Wunsches, war bewegt. Sie strahlte in freudiger Erwartung. Aber auch sie hatte göttliche Fähigkeiten, so dass sie ihren Geliebten zu umsoregen wusste. In dieser Nacht erschöpfte sich Parvati und wurde schwanger.

Die Monde vergingen und Ganesha wurde geboren, mit einem Elefanten kopf und dem Körper eines menslichen Gottes. Er war wunderschön.

Als die Menschen ihn sahen, konnten sie weder verstehen noch sich ausmalen, dass er die Frucht einer solchen Liebe sei, und erfanden den falschen Mythos des Shivas Eifersucht, der Köpfung ihres Sohnes, und der Ersetzung seines Kopfes durch den Kopf eines unglücklichen Elefanten, der dort wanderte.
